YouTube-to-MP3 conversion - PHP class and script

Hello, firstly thanks for your work on this script the concept is great...

however i have spend the last 3 days trying to get it to work... i have it on my server... i have it grabbing videos... but cannot for the life of me get it to convert it just freezes on converting video and goes no further

any ideas what im dong wrong? ive added the most recent sig patch (post above mine)

what OS do you use? I think your server cannot find FFMPEG. it leads no converting because ffmpeg doesn't write the log file. If your FFMPEG sets properly, then check your libcurl setting.

Guys and gals,

I will be working on an auto-update feature for these encrypted signatures. The idea is that you run a cron job on your server that periodically checks my server for updates, and if one is available, then the cron job automatically downloads it and inserts the relevant decryption code into the software.

I know these manual updates are getting tiresome, for you as well as me. I have been very busy lately, so I'm doing my best to keep up with YouTube and make time for everything else.

I do intend to make this auto-updating feature a priority on my software's to-do list. When I have some free time, sooner rather than later, I will implement the functionality in a subsequent version. In the meantime, thanks for hanging in there with me, and I promise that the best is yet to come.

I suspect that means that this is the wrong directory path on your server for the FFmpeg binary.

_FFMPEG should be a valid, absolute path on your server, like /usr/bin/ffmpeg or /usr/local/bin/ffmpeg. The way you have _FFMPEG set now, the server is looking for the FFmpeg binary in the same directory as your app files, which is clearly incorrect. The FFmpeg binary will be outside of your web root.

New in this release:

1) I have introduced an auto-updating feature that automatically updates YouTube video signature decryption code as needed. This feature will work as follows:

- When your site users try to convert an encrypted video, and the decryption code in my software fails (and the conversion subsequently fails), then the software will poll my remote server and check for a new decryption code update.
- If the software on your server has the most recent update, then I will immediately be notified that the current decryption code is malfunctioning, and I will start working on a fix. (In other words, we have a detection mechanism here that facilitates faster response times from me with respect to fixing decryption code problems.)
- For the length of time that the software decryption code is failing, and no updated version is available, the code will continue to check for new updates every hour until it finds one. (During this time, you will not be able to convert encrypted videos. But some amount of downtime is unavoidable here between updates. The goal is to minimize the downtime.)
- When the software detects that an update is available, it will download the relevant code from my server and automatically update the new UtilityFunctions.class.php file (which is where the decryption code is now located).

The existing YouTubeToMp3Converter.class.php file was modified, and UtilityFunctions.class.php and software.xml were added. There should be no need to edit either UtilityFunctions.class.php or software.xml, and thus modifying those files is strongly discouraged.

Both UtilityFunctions.class.php and software.xml should be set to chmod 0777, or the lowest permissions possible that still enable programmatic modification of those files.

As always, please let me know if you have any questions/concerns regarding the above and/or the code.

There must be a problem with either the server configuration or script installation. Currently, your site is not downloading any videos. That could be caused by many things. I would need to know more about your server/script configurations before I could begin to isolate the problem. So could you please provide me with more detailed information in this regard?

I can assure you that others are not having this problem.

I didn't update the commercial version because I have added an experimental, largely untested feature to the free software. I will eventually add this feature to the paid-for version. But until such time that I am confident that the new feature is working correctly, it will not be included in the commercial version. And since this particular feature will be part of both the free and paid-for versions of the software in the future, it only makes sense to test the feature first in the free version to ensure that my paying customers continue to experience no problems with their product.

Is there anyway I can get access to some video which is watchable? I am sorry to say that in that video it's really impossible to understand what is being written on the notepad. Perhaps, you could have made the font size bigger.

Anyway, here are the steps I am doing:

. Unpack/Unzip the distribution file and upload the contents to a new directory on your web server via FTP
==> Done

. Ensure that the "logs", "output", "ringtones", and "videos" folders (in your new directory) have write permissions
==> Done

. Set the location of FFmpeg in config.class.php via the _FFMPEG constant
==> Done. Since it's on the root, I am using only the below:

const _FFMPEG = 'ffmpeg.exe';

. Configure additional constants/variables in config.class.php as needed

==> Other variables are done as below:

const _SITENAME = 'youtube-converter.com';
const _APPROOT = '/';
const _TEMPVIDDIR = 'videos/';
const _CONVERTED_FILEDIR = 'output/';

All other directories such as videos, output, logs are in root.

Can you please let me know what I am missing here?
