The following will show 2004 on your website. You have lots of options to replace the "Y" for different date and time formats.
PHP Code:
<?php
echo
date
(
'Y'
);
?>

A simple search in the manual will tell you that
PHP: date - Manual
http://www.php.net/date
PHP: time - Manual
http://www.php.net/time
