i have read a book about PHP, but now i want to test myself, so how can i do that? i mean i want someone to tell me try to do a website or a page that do something with PHP.

I'm not very sure what you're asking for. Do you want to know how to install PHP on your local computer or do you ask for project ideas for testing out your PHP skills?

Write a bookmark/link management system.

Users should be able to store a bookmark, consisting of title, URL, category, and additional info in a database. Of course editing and deleting of bookmarks and whole category sections should be possible too. As a goodie, it should be possible to comment on the quality of each link and store these comments as well.

After all, it's just an idea. You'll have to define particular details of the system yourself.

it's a good project, but possibly more involved than what you're looking for. Start small. Try creating a simple "Guess the Number" game, using either a random number or a hardcoded value.
