  • How to use Session and Cookies in PHP

    Hi Pals,

    Nice to see you through this forum.Im a newbie to the php

    programming.I would like to know about the core architecture of php

    (Like it has a OOPS supported language,any inbuilt objects

    (Server,Session,Application in ASP),Other special features)

    Right of this moment im involved in the shopping cart project which

    is going to be process in PHP,MYSQL.So if anyone knows the snippets or

    the tutorials about SESSION,COOKIES,BASICS about the PHP-MYSQL database

    programming.kindly pass it through.

    Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    the best advice I can give, and dont' take this personally, is RTFM.

    http://www.php.net/docs.php

    They've done an excellent job of dividing the documentation into just the sections you've mentioned.

    yes, it supports OOP, yes, it has built-in variables.

    As for mysql, pretty standard stuff.

    mysql_connect()
    mysql_select_db()
    mysql_query()
    mysql_num_rows()
    mysql_fetch_array()
    mysql_fetch_assoc()
    mysql_close()

    Those are the functions you'll most likely want to take a look at.

    session_start();
    $_SESSION[session_variable] = session_variable_value

    yeh. Take a look at the documentation, and let us know if you have any further, more specific questions with which we can help you

    HTH,

      I don't think there is a build in application-object like in ASP. I never saw anything about is anyway, but i don't realy miss it when i'm developping in PHP.

      Fot the rest, i'll secod Celtboy. The manual at www.php.net is excellent. Maybe try www.hotscripts.com for some getting started tutotials on PHP-mySQL interaction
