installing and making apache work

to all,
i am practically a newbie in installing this apace 1.3.29. ok i have managed to install apache tru the windows GUI but how do i direct it to folder which i want so that it will run my files as the rootfolder??is there a GUI for it or is it all done by console windows??i really am stuck here though i have the manual but i dun understand what it says..can someone guide me?

In your http.conf file under the conf directory, there's a variable named document root or something similar. Edit that to what you want.
