say if you want all a's on one page and all b's on another, put this (in a mysql_query() )

    $letter = 'A'; // change this depending onthe page

SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE columnname = '$letter'

or if you only want the first A from the table without sorting:
SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE columnname = '$letter' ORDER BY columnname ASC

or if you want to sort it ascending:
SELECT * FROM tablename ORDER BY columnname ASC

    descending:
SELECT * FROM tablename ORDER BY columnname DESC

heavy use of the ctrl + c / ctrl + v keys here i hope it helps

It be helpful to know what language you use, whether it's PHP, ASP, JSP, Java, C... the list grows. So in what language would you like to display the selected values?
