    You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'WHERE uid='13'' at line 1

    this is the error i get. what does it mean, how do i remove it? :|

    Welcome here!

    It means that you have a error in your sql-syntax right before the where clause. If you need more helpfull comments, then you need to give us a bit more info, like for instance the sql-statement

    Or add this right after the line with your sql_statement.
    die ($select);

    (assuming that $select is your sql-statement. So your code would then look like
    $select="select ... where uid=13";
    die ($select);

    And then reload the page in your browser and look at the printed sql-statement (or post it here)

    Note: uid isprobably a numerical column, so you don't need to enclose the values for it in quotes.
    Posting guidelines I use to see if I will spend time to answer your question : http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
