where to start? Noob!

I want to learn how to build websites from designing to programming. I am leaning towards php language but heard c++ is the way to go. Where should I begin? HTML and CSS first then learn the select language? Are there any good courses online? any good books you recommend that are up to date?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

w3schools is a great place to start. They have HTML and CSS tutorials, as well as a variety of tutorials on scripting languages. Dive in and see what interests you the most.
