Not sure where to post this, but I am trying to write a batch file that will run pre boot off a boot disk (created by formatting a floppy as MS-DOS startup in xp) and allow the user to see a menu, choose an option (a program), and then a dos based program load. OK I've got how to load the programs...I've tested loading them individually from autoexec.bat so I know it works, I've got how to display the menu and all that, I even created a batch that allows that type of user input working fine using cmd.exe...however cmd.exe and command.com are different...I am able to use set /p with cmd.exe but with command.com I cannot use set /p to get user input because that switch does not exist...does anyone know of a way that I can do this with a startup disk?

    any help appreciated...
    thanks!
