  • USB port not working

The USB port on my PC doesn't work anymore. When I connect my Coolpix 5000 to the USB port Nikon View 5 doesn't launch or reconize the camera. I can't transfer images at all.

I installed "PHPDEV - Download Development Package for PHP, Perl and MySQL" offered in the PHP forum could this have screwed up the USB port? I have re-installed Nikon View 5 but that didn't help.

Should I format and re-install everything?

    Sincerely

have you tried the obvious already? Checking the camera, trying other usb devices on the port? Or checking the device manager?

Just my reflexes from working in tech support...

try a reboot as well. I had my USB ports go out on me earlier...reboot fixed it.

and no, installing phpdev won't affect your usb ports

        Thanks for the quick replies.

Yes I have re-booted and I went to Radio Shack and bought a USB card reader. The card reader light goes on when plugged in but I don't see it show up in "My Computer".

I had a look in the Device Manager but I don't know what to look for.

        Thanks

          What OS are you running?

Is there anything with a red X or a yellow ! listed in Device Manager?
