Is it possible to make an audio player like this with jquery?

I found this on this site that a client wants something similar done. I am more familiar with jquery than with flash. Also, it seems that in flash that it won't always allow the pause function..
They want an audio player like this: davidmeece.com That very small thing on top.

I need to a way to make a player like the one in the aforementioned link. I do not believe jplayer can do that. I use jplayer on another website, but I am looking for a thin player like the one at the other site, but not necessarily flash (preferably not).
