  • HELP! Side Menu Bar

    Hi! I am new here and I don't understand how to use the code to get the side menu bar on my webpage. I don't use html to build my whole webpage. Does that matter? I don't have a lot of experience in using HTML except for copying and pasting it to my webpage. If you can respond in easy to understand English I would be grateful!
    Thanks!

    Hi MissCindy

    is this what you need? (code cut and pasted from dynamic drive - using the slide in menu 1)

    <html>

    <head>
    <title>name of your webpage here</title>

    <style>
    <!--

    #slidemenubar, #slidemenubar2{
    position:absolute;
    left:-154px;
    width:160px;
    top:170px;
    border:1.5px solid green;
    background-color:lightyellow;
    layer-background-color:lightyellow;
    font:bold 12px Verdana;
    line-height:20px;
    }
    -->
    </style>

    </head>

    <body>

    <script language="JavaScript1.2">

      hi cindy

      copying and pasting is exactly what to do to get this script on your page.

      look at the instruction on the page where you found the menu, and it will tell you where to paste.

      inside the code, look for these marks: //
      like this:
      //extend or shorten this list
      sitems[0]="Home"
      sitems[1]="Take our survey!"
      sitems[2]="Menus And Navigation"

      words after // are usually instructions. this is the list showing the names you would have on your menu. you will change these to what you want your menu to say.

      this should get you started.

                slidebar menu

                Ok I'm losing my mind!!! Sorry about this... the slidebar menu is NOT on the first page. I decided to leave my first page the way it is because of the theme i have on that page. The slidebar menu is on all my other pages. I'm so sorry for confusing you all! Forgive me please

                  ok, i saw the menu on one of your pages. i still don't quite know where you saying you want it to say site map. i looked on the dynamic drive page with slide in menu bar script 1 (http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamici...lideinmenu.htm), and didn't see anything "on the side"

                  if you see another page with the menu the way you want yours to look, post a link here so i can see what you are talking about.

                    i was just looking at dynamic drive's menus, and I think you're talking about a different menu :http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex1/davidmenu.htm

                    which has "side menu" on it. This is not the menu you are using. the one you are using does not have this feature.
