Prompt input => Textarea

You know like on here (vBulletin), when you click something like the bold button on the post page, there is a prompt asking what you'd like to be formatted and then its put in the tags in the textarea.
I'd like to know how to do the same for my blog, does anyone have the code? It'll be appreciated

I don't know that much Javascript so I'm not too keen on looking through the coding. If I'm given the code, I'm sure I can work it out.
