  • Problem with DHTML/Javascript menu system

    Hi everyone,

I was hoping someone might be able to help me out. I just installed the following menu system:

and I'm having a bit of trouble. I have installed the version of the script that works on pages that include frames, and everything is working fine except that when a new webpage is loaded into the frame that is supposed to display content, the menu stops working. In fact, it seems to "freeze" and stay highlighted on whichever menu item I last picked. The drop-down functionality also stops. Do you have any idea what I might be doing wrong?

The URL of my site is:

and the .js file reads as follows:

Thank you so much for your time - sorry for the absolutely massive post. Not sure if anyone will be able to help me out.

Perhaps you'll get a reply if you post this message in the specific Dynamic Drive scripts forum: http://codingforum.net/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=14

Your actual problem is that all visitors without javascript will end up with no navigation.
Get rid of that code and include a simple list of links in your pages. If you do need a javascript enhanced menu, use this one: www.udm4.com

Vladdy: Would you be able to tell me why the menu system I have in place is less accessible than the one featured on the link you posted? The one I originally picked is supposedly compatible with all non-ancient browsers, and isn't this other one Javascript-based too?

javacookman: thanks - I didn't know that forum existed!

Disable javascript in your browser and then try both links. Yours ends up with no navigation whatsoever. BK's menu still presents the top level menu making the site accessible.
If all you have is a two level system you can get away without JS (if you do not count a very simple htc file for stoopid IE):
