  • JavaScript Questions

I am running Linux Mint 19.3 Tricia, and i have only just started learning JavaScript.
Could someone tell me how i might find out which version of JavaScript i am running on my machine from the command line?
Also, i am on the lookout for a JavaScript book with plenty of examples and uses the latest version of JavaScript, ES6?
Thanks in advance for any help and/or advice.

You aren’t running JavaScript “on your machine”, JavaScript runs in the browser (or possibly other application) you are using. And there is no specific “version” of JavaScript that an application supports. Just like HTML and CSS, applications may support all or just parts of the currently specified standards. And finding out what is supported is usually only relevant for web browsers, and for this you can consult https://caniuse.com/
