file manipulation

i am new to javascript and have run into a small problem. how can i manipulate html files pemanetly on the a server. i tried the File object and has zero luck. i am using MS frontpage 3.0 and i get an error message saying that File is undefined. please help me!!

I think The File Object you are talking about will work in VBScript.
