    Re: Dropdown Menus

They are pretty cool aren't they.

I don't know how Microsoft do them. However have have a look at www.dynamicdrive.com They have some great free scripts for creating dynamic menus like these.

I took the code I thought I needed from the page and couldn't get the menus to open/close.

I then took the code for the entire page (made URLs complete with http://msdn.microsoft.com/......), and still could NOT get the menus to open/close.

What special code/link (nested JS files?), etc. could I be missing???

You can get it to work as a standalone table. You need the following files, which you'll find in your temporary internet files directory.

2 default.css (combine them together or rename 1 and alter style sheet href)
        ie.css
        ie4.css
        gripblue.gif
        gripgray.gif
        webparts.htc
default.asp (you can rename it to .html)
        menu.xml
        chevronup.gif
        chevronDown.gif

You will need to alter the path of all the gifs and css files within the page code, css and htc files for it to work.

For the menu bit of the page (as it stands) I have reduced the number of lines to 617 and the whole thing takes up a whopping 57KB of space, is it all worth it?? after that you'll have to add content
An answer needs a question just as much as a question needs an answer. Deep eh!
