  • Activex Install

    I know how to embed an ActiveX component on a page with the condition the user already installed it. But how do you get a prompt to show up asking the user whether or not they want to install it (ex. Windows Update)

    Code:
    <object id=Pdf1 classid=clsid:CA8A9780-280D-11CF-A24D-444553540000
    Width=300
    Height=100>
    </object>
    This code displays the a control that has already been installed with the specified guid. But is useless unless the user installed it. If there was a couple lines of code that prompted the user to install the ocx that would be great... thanks

    you could use an alert box, which would be very annoying.

    or you could just simply write somewhere,

    "blah blah blah is needed to view this page"
    OR
    "cant see the [insert what they can/cannot see]? click here" //then link them to the installer

    EDIT: i just noticed i commented the "then link them to the installer" LOL....im a nerd...
