  • How to Give an Absolutely Positioned Element a Height

    Hello!
I have a problem that has had me stumped for quite some time now:
I have a relatively positioned div with a relatively positioned div and an absolutely positioned div.

But, the problem is that the first (black) div only is only as tall as the second (white) div. Because the third (red) div is positioned absolutely it's height apparently doesn't count.

    Hi there jacoblockard99,

and a warm welcome to these forums.

You have not explained why you believe "position: absolute"
to be necessary, or what you are actually trying to achieve.

Perhaps you can also give us a link to site in question or the
code that you are at present using.

I'm so sorry! I forgot about the code (I added it as an attachment).

As you can see, the "section_2" element does not appear at the bottom of the screen as I want it to.

      Thank you!

Thank you for your help, but I think you misunderstood me. I would like the image to get pushed up underneath the blue "contact-bar" so that the slightly opaque blue bar shows some of the image.

          Sorry for the confusion.
