  • Need help!

    Good evening all,

I have a problem with my coding.

I am building a website and the only page which isn't working is my contact.html.
I am publishing my Html files as well as my css with File Zilla. When i run my contact html through notepad ++ my contact page is working but once I publish it online i get a 404 error message stated that the file cannot be found on the server. I am very frustated. I hope someone can help me on this.

Please find in my message my html code aswell as my css.

thanks a bunch for those who can help me sort this out!

Common reason: Problem regarding upper/lower case.
If this doesn't help please post the URL of your site and a screenshot of Filezilla.

In Linux, file names are case sensitive. This means Contact.html is not the same as contact.html. On the screen shot of filezilla (post #3), its shows the file name as contact.html. The 404 not found is looking for Contact.html. Change all reference from Contact.html to contact.html. See if t works.

              This page loads:
              Code:
              http://tinahanjicreations.co.za/Assignment10/contact.html
              The link you posted:
              Code:
              http://tinahanjicreations.co.za/Contact.html
Do you see the problem now? There are two issues:
              - Folder "Assignment10" missing
              - Contact.html starts with a capital letter, on the server the first letter is low case.

In your index.html you reference the contact page like this:
                  Code:
                  <li><a href="Contact.html">Contact</a></li>
You have to correct the file name here and anywhere else where you reference it.
