  • dumb question, i know...left "menubar"

    hi, first of all this place is great!! thanks for all the help so far... heres the next question

    this is gonna sound dumb but here goes anyway..

    a website with a "menubar" going down the left side, how do you do that?

    and how do you do the "streching" of the content, i mean how do you slice and code it to do that...

    really confused about how that works with the bar on the left without using tables...

    thanks for the help!

      Like the last 100 posts, I'll take a shot at it with my pure table skills. heh.

      Code:
      <table width=100%>
        <tr>
          <td width=100% colspan=2>HEADER HERE</td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
          <td width=300>Left Menu Here</td>
          <td width=100%>COntent here</td>
        </tr>
        <tr>
          <td width=100% colspan=2>FOOTER HERE</td>
      </table>
      the left menu is 300pixels wide, the content exands with the page. so does the footer and header as well.

        Please don't post solutions that use tables for page layout, it just confuses people trying to design web sites the right way.

        OP, here's the page I like to refer to when looking at new CSS layouts:

        Holy CSS Zeldman!
