  • How to make a searchable image viewer?

Hey everyone....I need some help getting started but what it involves sounds relatively easy. I have a directory of about 2000 pics that I need to make a simple searchable viewer for. Like you put in 35758 and hit search and it would display 35758.jpg.

    Any ideas?

The javascript pull down viewer worked nicely but with 1000's of images, its too much scrolling up and down that pull down.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's more of a programming challenge than a graphics one, I would say. I would look into doing with a database and some server-side code, like PHP. Basically store all the searchable image information in your database (filename, other attributes associated with the image you want people to be able to search for) and write a basic PHP script to search the database and display the image(s) that fit the criteria.

Chances are someone's already written a script that does this. The server-side guys over the PHP forum would likely be able to point you in the right direction.
