Merchant/cart/gateway NEED HELP

OK...

This is the first time I've set up a site with a cart/gateway/merchant

and I"M SO CONFUSED

I've always just used paypal or mals-e

Client has a merchant account and needs a REAL CART

And from there I believe he also needs a gateway to transfer the information collected in the cart, collect credit card transaction then transfer information collected to the merchant

CORRECT??????

Cart set up --- CUBE CART

Merchant - IMS www.ims.com

What do I do from here??
set up gateway right? BUT WHICH ONE WHY AND ... um ... how??

I'd really love some assistance....

As far as I know (and I've used it on a few projects) Cube Cart does not support IMS out of the box. So, you either need to write a payment module for that gateway, or hire a programmer to do it for you.

The other option is to persuade your client to use a gateway already supported by Cube Cart.

I have no idea, I've never heard of it before...but it is not supported by Cube Cart as far as I know.

Authorize.net is a gateway which will transmit your payment authorization to a Processor such as unitedbankservice.com
or wellsfargo.com. As it is your very own merchant account, your company name will appear on your customer's credit card statement.

The gateway can also complete card address verification, tips and do refunds etc. You just add the embeded scripts or modules provided by the gateway to your shopping cart or webpage and you are in business.
