i recently read that the keyword meta tag is now "dead" and only supported by one major web crawler " Inktomi " but is it still worth adding it and is it supported by xhtml 1.1 strict?

What you may have heard was that most search engines nowadays pay little attention to information contained in meta tags such as keywords and description.

Well, metacrawler still use it, too. However, both Google and MSN are not using it, but they do give a site a penalty in the ranking if they use keywords that doesn't match the keywords they have themselves connected with for the page.liorean <[[email protected]]>
