PHP Host

I am setting up a couple of servers and setting up my web site right now. I was inspired by threads likt this: http://www.codingforum.net/showthrea...&threadid=1330 . How many sites do you com across that off PHP and MySQL and stuff like that for free with no ads? You don't!

Well, that's what I'm going to do! All free, no hidden costs, no credit card numbers, but I will be excepting donations through PayPal from those people who care enough...

I am going to offer PHP, MySQL, ASP, Access 97, and I'm going to allow 25MB of web space (50MB for donaters) and unlimited data transfer.

If anyone is interested in this email me at [email protected] just so I can get a general idea of how many people woul like these services.

However, since you did not provide a link and are not advertising a service that you have already implimented, I'm going to leave this thread as is (open). Right now you are simply stating an intention and I suppose you can't be promoting something that doesn't yet exist. If you had posted something like. "Check out my new hosting service!" That would be a different story .

You're intentions certainly sound good and the concept is good. How do you plan to finance this hosting service, by PayPal donations alone? In theory, it sounds like a great hosting service you're contemplating. Let's refine the purpose of this thread a little to requesting feedback / suggestions (in the thread) on your idea, sort of like a site review request except that the feedback / suggestions will be in regard to you new PHP hosting idea. I agree with your PayPal donations thing, but how many people in this forum actually say, "Where can I get a PHP host - and I don't mind paying?"

Most people generally look for a free host. I am really hoping that PayPal donations will be enough and most people will be generous enough to donate.

Even if I had one hundred members join and each donate $10, that would bring in $1,000. That would put a start to things and maybe I could get recurring donations and new members joing every so often.

If that doesn't keep things going, I will have to place a notice on the site that I will remove some features from the free service and create a paid package.

If that doesn't inspire them to donate, I will of course follow through on my words and do just that.
