  • Google and My Site..... Why???

    Hi All,

I recently completed a site for a friend at

The problem is that it is not getting picked up by Google when i do a search for some of the keywords that i have added to the META...

Can someone explain to me why this is?

    I have another site at

that has the same META structure as the first one and it works fine. I thought at first that it was because Google has to go through a routine update phase, however this site has been live for well over a month now and still nothing.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

    TIA,

Have you even submitted your site to Google to be indexed? If not, then you aren't going to get listed there unless your site is linked by another site that Google is indexing and follows the link from that site to your site (and even then it would probably go into the index queue and not update on that build).

Submit your main domain name to Google and wait.

Yeah that was one of the first steps i had taken...

      Could they be that behind?
      OR
Could it have gotten lost in the shuffle?

It'll take from 2 weeks to 2 months for the listing to become 'active'

in other words, be patient, you wont see huge results instantly.

Taken from the add URL page: http://www.google.com/addurl.html

We do not add all submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or guarantees about when or if they will appear.
          there ya go

Hi, if you want to optimize a page for Google, start with putting your main keywords in your TITLE tag. Put those keywords in your META description tag, ALT and TITLE attributes. Try putting them in a H1 tag as high in your code as possible, try using them in H2 and H3 tags and be sure to use them often in your contents. As Feyd said, you must be linked on other sites, preferably sites that rank high in Google. Try to get your site in Yahoo and DMOZ. And then wait for 2 or 3 months..
